READ and SHARE this Editorial by Leadership Newspapers acknowledging and commending President Jonathan on the Fight against Boko Haram --- THE PRESIDENTS RENEWED FIGHT AGAINST BOKO HARAM #HappySunday Friends! As the push to set up an international special joint security task force by Nigeria, Chad, Niger and Cameroon to fight Boko Haram gathers momentum, there are indications that the Nigerian military offensive against the insurgent group in the North East of the country is gradually yielding results. According to recent reports, soldiers have regained control of some key towns in Adamawa State. These include Gulak, Bazza and Michika. In Borno State, Boko Haram suffered heavy casualties as their attempt to recapture Bulabulin was repelled. The village, situated about 60 kilometres from Maiduguri along the Damboa road, was captured by Boko Haram in July this year. In the middle of August, the village and Damboa town were recaptured by federal troops. Gradually, Boko Haram is being pushed east to the Mandara Mountains along the Cameroon and Chad borders. If this assault is sustained, within a short time, the issue of Boko Haram would have been conclusively dealt with. The international special joint security task force being set up by the four West Africa countries is important. Once the force is in place, it will be difficult, if not impossible for Boko Haram to run to our eastern neighbours to hide and re-group. This extreme and violent group will now be isolated and with a renewed and massive military offensive, they will be annihilated from Nigeria. We urge President Goodluck Jonathan to continue with this important task on the international front. He must sustain the effort that was first initiated by the French president, Francois Hollande. The key to winning the war against insurgency lies with cooperation with our three northeastern neighbours and the renewed offensive against Boko Haram by our military. The president and commander-in-chief must ensure that the morale of our fighting men is boosted to its highest. He must provide them with all they require to win the war. Since the war against Boko Haram started, most people remained cynical about the efforts of the Nigerian military, because of the losses they sustained. Their pedigree as one of the best fighting forces in the world came into question. Nigerians were unhappy that within a short time this year, much ground was ceded to the insurgents. But as the soldiers take back the territory that was lost, there is no doubt that the people are solidly behind them. It is hoped that before the next election, an enabling environment for democratic processes to work would have been created and the state of emergency lifted in Borno, Yobe and Adamawa states. For the victories presently being recorded, the president deserves some commendation. He must sustain the tempo of the initiatives and bring the Boko Haram insurgency to an end. - See more at: reubenabati.ng/The-President-acirc-s-Renewed-Fight-Against-Boko.html#sthash.An6S0p3q.dpuf
