READING ASSIGNMENT 5 CHAPTERS 11 SHOOTING and 12 EDITING QUESTIONS TO ADDRESS IN YOUR REPORT 1. Describe your crew. Who is responsible for what? Describe what you and your team are doing to shoot with editing in mind. 4. Correlation between visuals and interviews is essential. So you must find specific visuals to illustrate what is discussed in the parts of the interview you will use. But you can’t always cover everything specifically. What generic visuals will you use to cover comments that are made—as per the discussion in the book about this issue—what have you chosen to use to cover? 5. Explain what interviews your documentary is including and the aesthetic choices for the backgrounds and lighting. 6. Define a rough cut or first draft 7. Explain why you must transcribe. 8. Completion and preparation of all visuals including stills 3. When all transcription will be done. 4. Editing of A roll. Editing of sequences. Assembling the A roll with B roll, Completion of first drat (NOV 4). Revision and refinement. With REFINED draft due NOV 25. 10. What is a paper edit? For your project the team will take the transcripts and create a paper edit –ie cut and paste the sound bites in order –Use the paper edit to construct the A roll.
