RECENT TRIP TO IDAHO: "I met a young fellow last night at our Custer County Tea Party meeting who had much to say about the frustration we all feel from the news out of Washington, our State Capitol and even our local county and city council chambers. A few of the problems pointed out, the citizenry of every city and hamlet across America has been completely relegated to the simple task of voting for one of two bad candidates. We are also fast in the process of losing our Republic and disappointing Mrs. Powel (most of you won’t get this because you weren’t there!). And…..the continued polarization of America by the “system” has us at each other’s throats and not at the root of all causation; a totally self-serving government so high on power that they can’t believe themselves culprits. Mark Herr is right. If you missed him last night, I’m sorry. You missed a great opportunity to hear reason and understanding and a simple but effective solution to those maladies presented above. While we’ve been busy fomenting over the terror attack in Benghazi, the IRS abuse of the Tea Party, the NSA in your underwear drawer, Paula Deen’s “crazy assed cracker with cream cheese” murder trial and George Zimmerman’s recipe book filled with the “N” word (did I get that right?), there isn’t much time left to sit and think. By the time we’ve finished jumping up and down, running off at the mouth and flipping channels we’re out of fight. And who do you think figured out that exercise routine? Yes, it is all window dressing and theatrics, a diversion to keep us in our place and to sell newsy stories to people who want it fair and balanced and all tied up in a bow. Dumbed down and growing dumber seems the unfortunate trajectory. All those brush fires set fanned into raging infernos by the media will always make us just another cow to the milking at least once each election cycle. And to make matters worse, as well as you may believe your political analysis, you can bet that someone else in a perpendicular universe is thinking just the opposite. So what to do? Did I mention Mark Herr, with the Tennessee Center for Self Governance? Well, if I didn’t you’d better listen up. He’s got his finger on the pulse of this beast and he knows just how to make Shrek squeak. Mark stopped by Challis on his way to present at Glenn Beck’s “Man in the Moon” presentation in Salt Lake City tomorrow. Oh yeah, you really messed up by not showing up last night. I guess I should have stoked it a bit more, but I didn’t know what to expect. Damn! All is not lost though, you will have another chance to meet Mark, he’s coming back to Idaho this September for a full day seminar. Don’t miss it. I’ll keep you posted and any of you other freedom loving outfits out there who want a piece of this action, get ahold of me now so I can see if we can let you peek under the tent."
