RECOVERING FROM ROTATOR CUFF REPAIR SURGERY: I am a victim of bone - TopicsExpress

RECOVERING FROM ROTATOR CUFF REPAIR SURGERY: I am a victim of bone spurs in my shoulders, originally, in 1999, on my right side and now on the left. I remembered that it was painful the first time around, but this time it is really kicking my butt, big time! There is NO position one can get in to make the pain stop. Yep, I have pain meds...yes they make you drowsy, yes they dry out your mouth, yes they keep you from pooping and NO they do NOT eliminate the pain(at least not in my case). Last week was hectic, filled with two MRIs, pre-op lab tests and screening and finally a two hour surgery on Friday morning followed by 7 hours in post op recovery and a painful ride back to Katy about 6pm. Right now, my left forearm is in a sling with my left palm planted on my stomach...try to imagine the things one normally does that are no longer possible to do now (like scratching ones left butt cheek!). My doctor tells me itll be like this for about three weeks. I am currently in negotiations with Nurse Donnah to perform any scratching I might require; so far, we havent got past her initial response of NO, not even with a 10ft pole . Thanks for all of your well wishes and prayers...keep em coming...its gonna be a long three weeks!
