REGARDING EVERYONE BEING UP IN ARMS ABOUT THE RED HOT CHILE PEPPERS NOT BEING PLUGGED IN FOR THE SUPER BOWL HALFTIME SHOW: Its an accepted fact amongst musicians that for any major televised event in an outdoor (and often indoor) setting (like NYE in Times Square, Super Bowl Halftime shows, Presidential inaugurations, parades, some awards shows, etc) absolutely no one is playing their instruments live. Usually theyll record a live performance prior to the event to make sure it sounds alright and then play it back during the actual show while they sing over top of it. Lets face it: theres not a TV executive in the world who would leave something that big to chance. Too many factors could mess it up... cold weather, broken strings, bad microphone lines... the list is endless. So the next best option is to capture a great performance beforehand that sounds good, and then rock as best you can and sing your face off in the moment. All Im saying is just accept it and move on. Bruno Mars did it, RHCP did it, everyone does it at some point or another. It was a badass halftime show regardless. PS: If you want to see a band play, go see a show. Thats where you really can tell the real from the fake.
