REGARDING THE HADEETH 41 OF AL-IMAAM ABUU ZAKARIYYA IBN SHARAF AN-NAWAWEE IN HIS MOTNU. All perfect praise and adorations be to Allaah; we beseech His peace and blessings upon the Noblest and Best of Mankind(Sollallaahu alayhi wasalam). This hadeeth was reported by a sahaabee who was knowledgeable in the kayfiyya of Kitaaba and Qirooha. He was amongst the eminent companions who always wrote down whatsoever he saw or witnessed the Prophet do or say. Upon this a Jew said to him: Are you meant to write all that you see him do or say; atleast free him of some periods! Then He approached the Prophet and said: Indeed a Jew said such and such to me; then the Prophet said: Write! For by Allaah nothing would escape my mouth except the truth(from Allaah). He was the companion greatly envied by Abdrahman bn Sakhr(called Abuu Hurayrah) because he said: Abdullaah bn Amr bn aas could read and write while I cant. His name is Abdullaah bn Amr bn Aas. His father Amr bn aas was a sahaabee like him but he became a muslim before his father. He always desired to engage himself in ibaadaat and nothing more. His Kunya was Aboo Muhammad and he is the reporter of this hadeeth. The hadeeth goes as: From Aboo Muhammad Abdullaah bn Amr bn Aas; he said: The Messenger of Allaah said: None of You (muslims) have truly believed until his/her desires(wishes) is in accordance with what I(Muhammad) have come with(i.e brough from Allaah). Al-Imaam Bn Sharaf An-nawaawee explained this hadeeth saying that: The hadeeth means that: A slave would not have truly believed until his deeds are compulsorily in line with what is established in the Quran and Sunnah. He/She opposes his/her won desires and follows strictly what is brought by Muhammad(from Allaah). Al-Imaam An-nawawee then said: this statement of the Prophet is also in line with the statement of Allaah in the Quran that says: And It is not permissible(i.e it is prohibited) for a muslim; male or female to have options after Allaah and His Prophet had commanded a matter. (Suuratul Ahazaab Verse 36) Al-Imaam Al-Haafidh bn Rajab Al-Hanbalee(rahimahullaah) also explained this hadeeth as that: An individual would not posses a complete eemaan until his/her love, desires&wants is in accordance with what Muhammad has brought from Allaah from Commandments, Prohibitions and Permissions. So, it is compulsory upon every slave to comply with what Muhammad commands(from Allaah) and to hate(detest severly) what he had prohibited(from Allaah). Ibn Rajab then said: this(hadeeth) is in line with Allaahs statement that says: Verily By Your Lord, they(the muslims) have not truly believed until they make you(Muhammad) the Judge(Decider) in the matters that occurs(sets up) between them; then they do not find any hatred(or detest) whatsoever in their hears towards the ruling you passed or judgement you made and then they submit to you(Muhammad) totally. Ibn Rajab also quoted Suuratul Ahazaab Verse 33 to back up his explanations. Ibn Rajab then explained that Allaah detest and puts to shame whosoever dislikes what Allaah had revealed to Muhammad in His Book and Sunnah when He said: This is because they follow what Allaah detests and they dislike His Bounty; So We made void their deeds. This is a warning for those who detest to follow the sunnah and disapprove Allaahs verse. Al-Imaam Ibn Daqeeq(rahimahullaah) also explained this hadeeth that: This hadeeth is also in line with the hadeeth of Abuu Hurayrah and Anas bn Maalik reported by Muslim and Bukhaari where the Prophet said: I swear by the One in whose hands my soul is none of you(muslims) have truly believed until am more loving to you that your parents, his children and every mankind. As-shaykh Ibn Uthaymeen also explained extensively regarding this hadeeth affirming the following of the Prophet for the correctness of a slaves acts of ibaadaat.
