REMINDER: 19th Annual Ms. Coastal Bend Senior Pageant June 22, 2014 The Corpus Christi Parks & Recreation Department’s Senior Community Services Division will be hosting the 19th Annual Ms. Coastal Bend Senior Pageant on Sunday, June 22, 2014 at the Texas A&M University–Corpus Christi’s Performing Arts Center at 3:00 p.m. Contestants will participate in four events: interview, evening gown, talent presentation, and present a statement that conveys her “philosophy of life.” The 2014 Ms. Coastal Bend Senior Pageant’s contestants are Elida Cuellar, Margaret Elizondo, Jeanette Fjield, Inez Garcia, Rose Garcia, Stella Hatch, Sharlet Hatmaker, Nelida Ortiz, and Ellouise Smith. The contestants are all from Corpus Christi, Texas, and their ages range from 60 to 73. The goal of the pageant is to motivate and encourage senior women to utilize their full potential and to share a positive outlook on life with others. The pageant is based on the belief that seniors are the foundation of America. It is upon their knowledge, experience and resources that the younger generation has the opportunity to build a better society. The local winner will represent the Coastal Bend in a state pageant, and the statewide winner will compete for the national title. The reigning Ms. Coastal Bend Senior is Katy Costello. Ms. Coastal Bend Senior Pageant is a non-profit organization and depends on the support of the community. Tickets are $10 pre-sale and at the door. Pre-sale tickets are available at any local City senior center and the Senior Community Services office located at City Hall.
