**********REMINDER*****I posted about this once before, but lest we forget. It was never in the public arena. September 12, 2001 I got to the data center early that morning, still numb from the day before. My pager went off with a full DEFCON 5 situation. As an AT&T management person with hundreds of customers at the facility I had to be alerted. I joined several conference calls, one of which included the AT&T, Verizon and then MCI NATIONAL NETWORK OPERATIONS CENTERS all in one. Techicians monitoring the situation at all 3 NOCs were screaming about how their networks were on the verge of collapsing. Apparently SOMEONE was attacking all USA data networks. Hundreds of thousands of images PER SECOND were overloading all three networks. As was my custom, I was on a seperate call with just AT&T NOC (Network operations center) friends I knew and trusted. I inquired what /where was this coming from? It was traced to northern Pakistan. The MCI network went down the entire day. Verizon was down a few hours. AT&T, thanks to a quick thinking technician in VA (where a majority of data lines from overseas come into North America) was down about 1/2 hour. By the way, the image was a note FK THE USA. SO TELL ME AGAIN ISIS can do no harm.
