REPORT TO Special Council Meeting ITEM NO. 2.1 MEETING DATE Monday, 15 July, 2013 SUBJECT Works Approval Application WA72215 – Old Pioneer Quarry, 121 Boundary Road, Dromana PREPARED BY Sotirios Katakouzinos, Project Coordinator – Integrated Planning AUTHORISED BY Manager – Statutory Planning ATTACHMENT(S) NO VIEW REPORT RECOMMENDATION That Council notifies the Environment Protection Authority (EPA) of the following: 1. That Council does not object and does not support the Works Approval Application WA72215 at the Old Pioneer Quarry, 121 Boundary Road, Dromana for the reasons set out in this report. 2. Council requests the EPA to hold a conference of all persons in accordance with Section 20B of the Environment Protection Act 1970. 3. Works Approval conditions should: A. Be ‘self-monitoring’; B. Alert the site operator if the operations exceed relevant limits; C. Address water management requirements; D. Address issues relating to flaring; E. Protect groundwater and adjacent waterways; and F. Protect the amenity and condition of the nearby area with regards to: Noise attenuation; Staging; Dust mitigation; Operating hours; and The rehabilitation of the land.
