RESCUE TEAMS and DISASTER MANAGERS: Bismillah. Here is a short cut on what to do if there is DISASTER. Its a mnemonic actually. DISASTER D = Detection -- to be aware of all possible threats using METHANE and C3SDATTT mnemonics: I = Incident Command -- the Incident Command System (ICS) allows for a flexible standardized system of command and control; S = Safety and Security / Size Up -- the maintenance of scene safety and security / Size up situation continuously; A = Assess Hazards / Access -- to be aware and assess potential hazards, such as fire, smoke, gas, and blood / locate and access the casualties; S = Stage Support -- to get the job done which entails supplies, facilities, and personnel; T = Triage and Treatment -- the sorting of casualties based on severity then sending them for appropriate treatment using S.A.L.T. Mass Casualty Triage Algorithm (Sort, Assess, Lifesaving Interventions, Treatment/Transport); E = Evacuation -- casualty evacuation and determining evacuation availability via land or air; and R = Recovery -- after sorting casualties, time for coroner involvement and Critical Incident Stress Debriefing. the microscopic: REPORTS FOR SCENES M - Major Emergency Declared E - Exact Location of the Emergency T - Type of Emergency (Transport, Chemical, etc.) H - Hazards, present and potential A - Access/egress routes N - Number and types of Casualties E – Emergency services present and required SCENE TASKING C – Command, Communication, Coordination S – Safety & Security, Staging, Support, D – Detection (K9, LIDAR, Multi gas, thermal) A – Assessment, Accessing T – tracking (Forward SAR team) T – Triage & Treatment T – Transport Dont confuse yourself with lots of foreign tongue semantics without re-adjusting it to our culture and site.
