REST IN PEACE: Russell Johnson, best remembered simply as The Professor on Gilligans Island (as well as its animated spin-offs and its reunion telefilms), passed away this morning (Thursday, January 16th) at age 89. He also co-starred in 1959s Black Saddle as Marshal Gib Scott, and was seen as a guest star in MANY other TV shows: Twilight Zone, You Are There, Lassie, Steve Canyon, Riverboat, The Adventures of Rin Tin Tin, Alfred Hitchcock Presents, Climax!, Thriller, Ripcord, Route 66, Tales of Wells Fargo, Ben Casey, Wagon Train, Hawaiian Eye, Laramie, Rawhide, 77 Sunset Strip, The Outer Limits, The Invaders, The Big Valley, Death Valley Days, That Girl, The F.B.I., Marcus Welby M.D., Ironside, Gunsmoke, Owen Marshall: Counselor at Law, Mannix, Cannon, Rich Man Poor Man: Book II, McMillan & Wife, Police Story, Wonder Woman, Lou Grant, Beyond Westworld, Days of Our Lives, Bosom Buddies, The Jeffersons, Buffalo Bill, Dallas, Fame, MacGyver, Newhart, Dynasty, ALF, Knots Landing, My Two Dads, Roseanne, and more!! His passing leaves only Dawn Wells and Tina Louise among the surviving castaways from the show. :(
