RETRO DISNEYLAND HISTORY: 1967 One of the swinging 60s biggest icons - model and actress Twiggy - visited America in 1967. Of course, she made a big photographic splash by visiting Disneyland. If you look carefully behind Twiggy and her companions, you can see the brand new Howard Johnson tower looming in the background. Before the trees grew tall along Disneylands perimeter, the HoJo tower was clearly visible from many attractions. Thanks to HoJo fan and frequent guest Wendy Cooper for finding this little gem. The Howard Johnson hotel and restaurant opened in 1965 atop an orange grove and was one of the first large-scale hotels built on Harbor Boulevard to accommodate Disneylands overnight guests. In July of 2015 the HoJo will celebrate 50 years at the same time as Disneylands 60th celebration. The same family owns and operates the HoJo to this very day. Our family looks forward to welcoming your family on your next visit to Disneyland. #tbt #throwbackthursday #Anaheim #disneyland
