REVEALED: The FOUR stars at the top of Louis Van Gaals Man Utd wishlist LOUIS VAN GAAL has left Manchester United with a list of four players he wants to see at the club next season as he jets out to the World Cup with the Dutch national side. As revealed exclusively by Express Sport earlier today, Roma midfielder Kevin Strootman is Van Gaals number one priority as he looks to add metal to Uniteds midfield next season. Strootman wont play again until the autumn as he recovers from a serious knee injury but Van Gaal has told United that that shouldnt stop them launching a £25m bid for the former PSV star. But reports in Holland suggest that Van Gaal also wants Bayern Munichs Bastian Schweinsteiger to play alongside Strootman as he plots a complete overhaul of Uniteds engine room. Van Gaal knows Schweinsteiger well from his time in charge at Bayern and believes the 29-year-old to be a more reliable - and realistic - target than the likes of Toni Kroos. When it comes to strengthening defence, Van Gaal has made Borussia Dortmund defender Mats Hummels his top target as he looks to replace Nemanja Vidic and Rio Ferdinand. Hummels father recently downplayed his sons chances of making a move to United this summer, but Van Gaal is adamant that he is the man he wants and has instructed the Red Devils to pursue the 25-year-old hard. Van Gaal will also be looking to add dynamism on the wing and sees Liverpool and Tottenham target Yevhen Konoplyanka as the answer in that position. Konoplyanka is thought to be reluctant to move to United and miss out on playing in the Champions League with Ukrainian side Dnipro, but has a £12m buy-out clause that Van Gaal is ready to meet.
