REVELATION-666 ( PART2 ) ............. ..The book of Revelation has an apocaluptic style of writing which is to reveal mystery which may belong to the past, present or the future. The mysteries are usually expressed in symbols, codes and images. The book of Revelation was composed between AD 92 and AD 96. Around this period the christians who were catholics since no other christian denomination existed as at that time, were persecuted by the civilian Roman Authorities: The devil has thrown them into prison (2:10); the faithful witness Antipas has been killed(Rev 2:13); many have been slain for the word of GOD and for the witness they have been bearing(Rev 17:6); Rome is drunk is drunk with the blood of the saints and the martyrs(Rev 17:6) with Rome was found the blood of all those who have been slain for the faith(Rev 18:24). The book of Revelation was written at the time when Emperor Domitian(reign from AD 81-96), persecuted the christians (catholics). A temple was built in Ephesus in his honour and he claimed divine worship for himself, due to which all those who lived in the empire were to worship the emperor but the christians(catholics) refused and they were killed(Rev 13:4,15). But before Emperor Domitian, Emperor Nero had reigned between AD 54-68 and persecuted the christians(catholics) as a way of diverting the attentions of the Romans for been responsible for the burning of ROME. He blamed the burning of Rome on the christians (catholics) and had them persecuted. It is known that two witness (PETER and PAUL) suffered martyrdom under Nero(Rev 11:3). When Domitian began his persecutions later on, the christians(catholics) saw the spirit of NERO in him. Hence, they referred to Domitian as Nero redivivus ie. Nero Revived........ .....
