RFR’s Buescher Shows Flashes of Future in Kansas KANSAS CITY, Kan. (Oct. 6, 2013) – Roush Fenway Racing’s (RFR) Chris Buescher put on a clinic for much of Saturday’s 300-mile Nationwide Series race at Kansas Speedway; posting 71 green flag-passes. Starting 10th and forced to the back of the field after being pushed into the wall early, Buescher came back with a vengeance. At a track known for difficulty in passing, the young driver from Prosper, Texas moved from 32nd to 10th in only 21 laps. On the day, only race-winner Matt Kenseth passed more cars. “We had a really fast Driven Ford Mustang,” said Buescher. “The guys did a great job and we had a top-five car for sure. Unfortunately, some guys out there did not show us the respect on the track that we gave them. It’s something we’ll learn from, but I’m very proud of (crew chief) Seth Barbour and everyone on this team. We had a car that could compete up front and these guys deserved a top-five finish for sure.” The former ARCA Champion powered his Ford all the way through the field; leading the first laps of his NASCAR career on lap 89. He was running fourth on a restart on lap 129, when he was forced four-wide and dropped back. He was moving back through the field once again, when contact with the No. 20 car caused significant damage to his No. 16 RFR “Driven” Ford Mustang. He was able to move from 25th back to 16th for the finish, but the aero damage to his Ford was too significant for Buescher to move back inside the top-10. Buescher started the race 10th and was forced into the wall on lap 35. The team was able to repair the damage, with Buescher restarting in 32nd. The RFR driver picked off almost a car a lap and moved to 10th by lap 62. He had advanced all the way to fifth when green flag pitting started, and on lap 89 he led the first lap of his NASCAR career. Roush Fenway and the NASCAR Nationwide Series return to action next weekend at Charlotte Motor Speedway, where Ryan Reed will power the No. 16 Ford Mustang.
