RFS Commissioner Shane Fitzsimmons has said moments ago in a press conference that the Hall Road fire is “well and truly heading towards Wilton” and residents should remain alert and shelter in place at this point in time. South-westerly wind is currently influencing the fire. Strike teams are on the way now, and firefighting resources are being deployed in that location to provide security to the gas facility in the region. He has also said that this afternoon reminds us of the need to remain vigilant. “The fire grounds remain dynamic and are particularly susceptible to the wind and the elevated temperatures,” he said. He has also expressed thanks to the employers and family who have been understanding and accommodating of RFS volunteers, allowing them to give their time to these fires.
