RHRAP Donates Cell Phones To Gbarnga Prison Inmates The Rural Human Rights Activists Program(RHRAP) has donated some cell phones to authorities at the Gbarnga Central Prison in Bong County to help support prisoners outreach with their families while serving their detention term. The Acting Executive Director of RHRAP, T. Sandee Cole, Jr. presented the phones at the close of a two-day training workshop for several inmates at the center. He expressed hope the gesture would assist them to have easy contacts with friends, Loved ones and relatives while in detention. This, the RHRAP official believes, will also facilitate speedy dispensation of justice as the inmates could easily come in contact with their people or clients. He said the RHRAP initiative to promote criminal justice system in the country is being sponsored by the Inter-Church Cooperation for Development (ICCO) based in the Netherlands and implemented by his organization. The RHRAP is a peace-building network that was established in December 1997 by a group of activists who thought it wise that the message of human rights should be spread into the rural areas so as to educate the rural inhabitants on issues of conflict resolution, peace and social developments in the country.
