************* RICHMOND MARATHON 2014 *********************** I am back home, just fe d Rocky and let him yell at me for leaving him alone, lol Thie RICHMOND MARATHON will be in my memory for many years to come. Due to the article written about me in the Richmond paper,I recieved so much support along the 26.2 miles. I was also able to get the word out about SSGT Wesley Williams to more people then I ever imagined I could. The say started out with a big case of nerves, this was take 3 to complete my mission, and also it was 26 degrees outside,BURRRRRRR. I stayed at the Marriott Downtown, which is at the start line,so I could hang out in my room till the last minute. When I got downstairs, the lobby of the hotel was packed with runners, and due to the article,I had many runners thanking me for what I was doing, and also thanking SSGT Williams for what he did for us. I watched the 8K runners head out, then the Half Marathon runners head out,and it was time to get my jouney underway. My good friend Barco Scot had told me he would make sure I finished. Barco is an amazing runner,he has 118 marathons under his belt and he ran 26 in 26 weeks last year. He is alot faster then I am,but he stayed with me,giving me modivation, calming my nerves, and offering support for 6:53:00. I can never thank him enough. The training coaches who were outn their offered me their support, and at every staion they manned, they yelled for me and made sure I was ok. To all of Them THANK YOU,I wish I could shake each of your hands. My new diet, and eating properly seems to work,I didnt have the energy drain I experienced at Baltimore and Marine Corps. I actually felt good for the first half,I was taking it easy,I had to finish, but I felt good. I have been fighting a cold a co worker gave,me,and the medication wore off around mile 15,and I was having problems breathing, but Barco and Tom and Judy were there to help me keep going. The finish is DOWNHILL and I had enough left to run to the finish, were as I crossed the line,Bart Yasso from Runners World congratulated me. We run into each other often and he is a super guy. I then got my Medal and a great hug from Maria Quintas-Herron,and I strated to cry alittle because I had the medal that will be mailed to Wess family. He has 2 young Daughters, and I wanted them to have this in honor of their Dad. Richmond is called AMERICAs Friendliest marathon, and it always lives up to this. The support for all runners is fantastic. At the finish,I got my medal,a great blanket and a finishers hat. They then had shuttle busses to take us back to the start,so i didnt have to walk up hills. Well thats about it,except to again thank all of you for all your support and very kind comments,I make sure to show them to my Mom. Heading to Norfolk Va this coming weekend for a 5K and Half. My next full is at Disney World as part of the DOPEY CHALLENGE :-)
