RIGHT.. little break in proceedings for a Tolpuddle Martyr style rant.. There is one over-riding reason why this will NEVER be a cashless society.. human intervention. Was there ever a less utopian cyber future world scene than the independent petrol station at the end of our work estate? Lass outside trying to frantically sweep away water flooding off the flat roof onto the forecourt.. go to pay for petrol with card.. card rejected (as was the fellas next to me I might add).. card machine not communicating with tills.. (shop filling with card payers).. panic ensues.. can you get cash from the machine at back of shop.. queue turns en masse and an argument ensues about who should use it first.. big bloke in overalls shouts loudest and wins.. cash machine down.. okay anyone got cash?.. no.. okay.. can we go and get cash and come back.. not sure.. persuade little man to let us go to supermarket round the corner for cash.. queue of people waiting to give him cash.. FFS there will never be a Terminator style battle between man and computer because theyll catch us in 10 minutes while were queueing for petrol and egg mayo butties
