RIGHTEOUSNESS! 1. God Is RIGHTEOUS. 2. God Demands RIGHTEOUSNESS. 3. God Provides RIGHTEOUSNESS. The Gospel says "The just shall live by faith." A. "For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, *THE JUST* shall live by faith." Romans 1:17 B. "But that no man is justified by the law in the sight of God, it is evident: for, The just *SHALL LIVE* by faith." Galatians 3:11 C. "Now the just shall *LIVE BY* faith: but if any man draw back my soul shall have no pleasure in him." Hebrews 10:38 It is faith in Jesus Christ alone that saves, not our good works. When it comes to salvation it is a wicked thing to try to use ones self-righteousness as a means of salvation. Jesus said in Matthew 7:21-23 "Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not PROPHESIED IN THY NAME? and in thy name CAST OUT DEVILS? and in thy name done MANY WONDERFUL WORKS? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity." These people were preaching, casting out devils, and doing great works for the Lord but they were going to bust hell wide open! So what is the "will" of the Father? "And this is the WILL of him that sent me, that every one which seeth the Son, and BELIEVETH ON HIM, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day." John 6:40
