RIP Louis “Satchmo” Armstrong: born 8/4/1901 died 7/6/1971 Louis Armstrong was the first important soloist to emerge in jazz, and he became the most influential musician in the musics history. Louis put his stamp on in the city of New Orleans and its culture like no other single man. They have legends like Buddy Bolden to Marie Laveau, but Satchmo, you can reach out with your eyes and ears and feel it. He invented the way we think of jazz, from Miles, Coltrane, Wynton and so many to name.
