**RIP SAGE. WE WISH WE HAD GOTTEN TO YOU SOONER** Very seldom do we take the position of a rant here on the Big Dog Ranch Rescue Facebook page. This particular rescue with Sage deserves the biggest rant in the universe. Sage was dumped at an awful place (which will remain nameless) by awful owners. She was nine years old and the shelter had her listed as a male named Sarge. They didnt even know she was a female for crying out loud. Sage walked into the shelter over 10 days ago and we carried her out in hopes that we could love her and hold her for whatever time she had left in this world. She was covered in urine and feces and had maggots in her pressure sore from lying on a concrete floor at the shelter for so long. They were, however, kind enough to spray bleach water around her. Some Big Dog Ranch Rescue angels learned of her plight and were determined to do what they could to make Sages life better. We even had a wheelchair at the ready for her and immediately got her medical care. Sage had her wound cleaned and was surrounded by many who loved her. Sadly, x-rays revealed that Sage had a giant tumor on her spleen but through it all, sweet Sage had a great attitude. We were hopeful for a different outcome, but it was not to be and Sages suffering was peacefully ended and she has now gone to the Rainbow Bridge to be amongst all things pure and beautiful. We are heartbroken that she suffered for over a week on a cold and lonely floor but we are very grateful thats not where she died. Sage died surrounded by folks who had only known her briefly but loved her tremendously. We hope that made a difference for her. Please help us and choose to make a difference for so many rescue dogs and consider becoming a monthly donor to Big Dog Ranch Rescue. Even just $5 a month can help to give the Gift of Life to a homeless dog in need. We were too late for Sage but with your help, perhaps we can get to the next one in time . . . https://bdrr.org/monthly-giving/
