RIP the great Joe Cocker. I was privileged to see him at the Bayfront Auditorium sometime in the 90s.....was overwhelmed how great it was....its too easy to forget just how many hits he had, every other song was a classic and he delivered them in top form. It never dawned on me before today that hes never been inducted in the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame, which is downright blasphemy....he should be a shoe-in next year. If youre wondering what all the fuss is really about beyond the John Belushi parody and the Officer & A Gentleman soundtrack, just do yourself a favor and get a copy of the With A Little Help From My Friends album, his debut featuring all-star backup band members like Jimmy Page, Steve Winwood, etc. Or rent the Mad Dogs & Englishmen DVD on Netflix with Leon Russell assembling a crackerjack band to back him up. Epic stuff. Safe travels into the great beyond, sir.
