RIP to my Great Uncle who passed away yesterday at the age of 97. Saw him 3 days ago and he was not doing well. Seeing how dedicated his family was to him til the very end really inspired me and made me proud to be a part of a culture who holds so much value to family. Sending him to a nursing home was never even an option. He was surrounded by loving family til the very end. My Aunt Homa and her beautiful daughter and three amazing sons selflessly taking care of him and engaging him in conversation/laughter on a daily basis for several hours enriched his life to the very end. I know billionaires and very powerful people who are not afforded such a pure unbending dedication of love in their lives. The kids are 15-20 years younger than me but taught me a lesson in love and family responsibility that I will learn from and emulate. I love you Mamaw Shereen and may Allah bless all of humanity as much as you have ours.
