The State Governor Chibuike Amaechi hinted in Government House Port Harcourt that it was one measure being promoted by government to check the spread of the disease in the state. “Please no more handshake keep your hands in your pocket until we contain the disease” Amaechi said on Wednesday. The governor further hinted that the State Government was putting more measures in place to contain any possible outbreak of the viral scourge. Corroborating the position of the governor, State Commissioner for Health, Dr Sampson Parker in a press chat with newsmen Wednesday in Port Harcourt said, “I urge you as a precautionary measure, to refrain from unnecessary body contact henceforth”. He dismissed as rumour that the state has recorded one death from the disease, “We are aware of the death of a health worker who had fever and diarrhea. However, tests and investigations are being carried out”. Dr. Parker insisted that the State has no case of Ebola yet warning the public against rumour mongering and panic amongst the populace.
