ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF A YOGA INSTRUCTOR: Yoga Instructors help to guide students in Yoga through a variety of postures, or asanas, and breathing exercises referred to as Pranayama. Instructors provide hands-on direction to make sure students are performing movements properly and applying the breathing techniques. Yoga Instructors may work in a class or in a one-on-one setting. Yoga Instructors also: • Monitor fitness levels and requirements of all students and design classes to suit individual needs. • Develop and maintain professional relationships with students and ensure optimal level of customer service. • Prepare and promote schedules for group fitness and assist students to attend fitness classes. • Maintain and keep updated attendance records for all students. • Perform and demonstrate all Yoga exercises to students and ensure compliance with safety and health standards. • Assist students to perform all exercises effectively. • Evaluate exercises performed by students and recommend correction whenever required. • Maintain neat and clean exercise room/space at all times. • Coordinate with students on lifestyle and diet issues to ensure healthy body and mind. • Analyze each student’s requirements and develop and develop exercises to suit each individual. • Design safe and comprehensive Yoga programs for various students from diverse groups. • Analyze activities, identify risks and develop preventative measures. • Develop and assist students with stretching and relaxation exercises. • Prepare and initiate warm-up and cool-down in exercise programs. • Prepare groups for classes and demonstrate exercises. • Inform students of various forms of Yoga and its effect on the body and mind. • Ensure all students come dressed properly and have all needed supplies for class: Yoga mat, bottled water, towel, blocks, etc… • Ensure appropriate ambience for students to perform Yoga exercises. • Ensure customer satisfaction and assist in answering all student queries. • Coordinate with students and initiate and provide feedback.
