RONALD MC DONALD HOUSE 2013 On Sunday, July 28, ten members of Faith Community went to the Ronald McDonald House in Chicago to serve a meal to the families of children that are patients at Lurie Children’s Hospital. What a blessed experience for all of us. After preparing a chicken dinner with mashed potatoes, salad, applesauce, rolls & butter, and lemonade in their fully equipped kitchen, the families arrived for dinner. Some looked tired, some looked sad but all were grateful for a home cooked meal and a little conversation. We served about 65-70 family members and “thanks” was the word for the day. Although we went with a bit of apprehension wondering how we would pull this off, we all agreed we would like to do it again and hope that some of you will join us in this very heart-warming experience. Like so many volunteer projects, we came away with more than we gave. A special thank you to the Food Pantry for providing us with so many of the items we needed to make this a success. They, as well, can feel the blessings that a project like this can bring to families.
