ROYAL DILEMMA... About the time that Im ready for the KC Royals to throw the towel in on their season, they somehow surprise me. There have been several times this season that I have been so frustrated with their losing that I havent followed their next game. And it seems that, more often than not, they have won more of the games that I havent followed than they have lost. I didnt follow their last two (not counting the suspended game they made up this afternoon in Cleveland and lost) and they have won both (one against Detroit and the other against Cleveland. By some miracle of miracles (both Detroit and Seattle lost Monday), the Royals are still ahead of Seattle for the second AL Wildcard spot and are only one game back of Oakland for the first, and are only one game back of Detroit for the AL Central Division Championship - who lost to the Chicago White Sox today. (To win their division, would guarantee them a spot in the playoffs. The two wildcard teams will play one game to see which team makes it into the playoffs. Thats a 50/50 shot. We dont want it to go down to such odds for the Royals, but well take it if thats all that we get. This last week should be interesting. Detroit finishes up with the White Sox and then Minnesota (who beat them 2 out of 3 last week), and the Royals finish up with Cleveland and then The White Sox (whom they have been fairly successful against this season). Maybe I shouldnt follow any more of their games this season... Thoughts?
