*ROYAL HOBART HOSPITAL CONTRACT AWARDED* Fairbrother CEO, Craig Edmunds, will today sign a contract with the Department of Health & Human Services to commence work on the much anticipated Royal Hobart Hospital Redevelopment. Fairbrother and John Holland have partnered to deliver the project under a Managing Contractor model. Mr Edmunds said that the $365 million project – the largest capital infrastructure project ever undertaken in Tasmania – represents a significant boost to the state’s building industry and economy. “This very large project will provide a significant boost to our industry at a time when it needs it the most,” said Mr Edmunds. “The Royal Hobart Hospital Redevelopment is a landmark project in our state’s history and it promises to deliver employment and better healthcare outcomes for Tasmanians.” The scope of the project includes construction of a new 10 storey building comprised of two towers to accommodate operating theatres, women’s clinics, endoscopy, paediatrics, maternity and mental health functions together with the refurbishment of existing clinical areas and site wide infrastructure upgrades.
