RUMORS OF WEEKEND SNOWSTORM ?? not It is Hype. There is a distinction between a snowstorm and a period of snow and I think perhaps that is whats causing some of the problem. Last week I thought there might be a system for this coming weekend but I bailed out of that idea on Monday. But unfortunately I continue to see some forecasters and whether hobbyists talk about the potential for no snowstorm the northeast this weekend. That is not going to happen unless you are in Northern New England. There are two clipper Lows which are going to track through the great lakes and New England over the next four days. The first one is actually part are leading or reinforcing arctic air mass which will sweep through the Great Lakes on Saturday and into the northeast Saturday night. This weak system and the associated arctic front could bring a period of snow too many areas of the Appalachian Mts and Central New York State as well as New England. Some of the snow showers may reach the middle Atlantic areas near the coast. But this could not and should not be considered a snowstorm. The second system is a more traditional CLIPPER Low that tracks either just to the north are very close to Chicago on Sunday afternoon spreading snow into the great lakes and the Ohio Valley. And the system will spread snow into New England Sunday night. Again it is possible that may be some snow showers over portions of the middle antic states and the big cities of I 95 from Boston down to Washington, DC but this is not a snowstorm for the I-95 corridor. Over the northern Appalachian mountains ... from Northern Pennsylvania into Western Maine this system could drop several inches of snow. BUT NOT FOR THE I-95 CORRIDOR .
