A few weeks ago, an English man beheaded an elderly neighbour in the UK- the same headline was used MUSLIM convert beheads woman in terror attack- it then turned out the man was neither a convert, nor had any relevance to Islam. There seems to be a new fashion developing (since the Boston bombings). When anyone engaging in a terror attack is a native of *insert Western country*, and does not fit the stereotypical huge beard, darker skin, and Arabic dialogue during their incident, they are immediately presumed to be a convert. The 32-year-old White Canadian national in the aforementioned shooting has been acknowledged (through various evidence) to have a history of drug abuse and plenty of criminal convictions (all before his apparent conversion). His parents have also admitted that he has many psychiatric issues. Yet of all these characteristics, the purported feature picked by media to identify him- his identifying label- is Muslim? How convenient.
