Race Report: Masahiko jumped on terms and was trapped wide early. Crossing to settle to the outside of the leader Strength, he travelled kindly throughout. Asked to quicken approaching the home turn, he moved up and challenged the leader on straightening. Running on strongly on straightening, he was challenged late to finish second, only beaten the shortest of margins. After the race, Tim Clark lodged a protest against the winner, for bumping your gelding at the 75m mark. The stewards found Masahiko was hampered and upheld the protest, declaring your gelding the winner. Jockey Tim Clark commented "he is such a fighter. He has to do a lot of work early but never gave up." The way Tim handled himself in the stewards room should be commended and also both for the way he rode him and winning him the protest. I was so thrilled to see your gelding win on my return to Sydney. He has pulled up very well and an easy race over further is on the 31st of July in the 2100m 3yo Benchmark 75 Handicap at Warwick Farm.
