Racing to the Weekend Action: 50 Strider strong came out determined to make a statement, however as usual, it was a fashion statement. But the running was pretty solid as well. Highlights included….. 1. The return of the one and only Leah Cornell. After 4 weeks away she had that glow about her; at least when she wasnt snarling at me. 2. Birthday Girl Sarah Mac very impressive 7 miler. This half-way-to-44 lady is getting that racing look, Nice job friend and Happy Birthday tomorrow! 3. Ben Snyder making a statement at mile 3 with a huge surge dropping the lady in # 8 below. Ben is intensely focused on all things 13.1 PRs. What a winter of racing this guy is sure to have. 4. The awesome return of 4 of our Chicago Marathon Champs! So just how cool was it to see little Daffodil HallenbeckChrissy Gardner BellStan Fivecoat and Denise Mestanza-Taylor all out and wearing those cool shirts while flashing some sweet and hard earned hardware. You all inspired us! 5. Little Heather # 3s all time 6 mile best! A 49 minute training run PR! This ladys improvement over the past 3 years continues to be one of our all time performance highlights. I have a suspicion she will be joining our highly sought after and coveted Sub 50 10K Club this coming winter or spring. No pressure though. Nice run Heather! 6. Gracious Clark Parry Sr. anMelanie Marrie Hynes for providing the much needed coffee this morning. 7. Normally sweet little Lisa Connolly Antle getting all huffy that we started 90 seconds late. Gheesh. Michelle Scholet, shes your problem. 8. And lastly, Michele Howard major but disturbing announcement that she decided on a whim to change our theme dance song from Thriller to Beat It. Ok sing along with me….. ……Just beat it, beat it, no one wants to be defeated, showing how funky strong is your fight, just beat it, beat it……. Yes, clearly the short Savannah GA bound woman has developed a bit of an racing attitude. But thats good. Make it a great day everyone, and thank you again for joining the fun on the Strider roads.
