Radio WM are broadcasting about the future of Wolverhampton following the announcement of loss of Government Grant to the City Council yesterday. The loss of 1,000 City Council jobs is a huge body blow. The only reason we are in this position is because the Conservative/Liberal Democrat Government is to strip out of the City budget some £89m of finance by 2019. Its true that the City currently has 1 in 3 jobs which relies on public sector funding. Its not a good position to be in. Its not a position I want us to be in. Wolverhampton is 20th in the league of most deprived cities. Surely the Government can see we need the grant that we have previously received. This situation is a Conservative/Liberal Democrat Government constructed situation and it is a shocking decision to make.
