Rahul Gandhi thrashes govt for failing to control onion prices Published on October 24, 2013 by diltopagalhai Rahul G, crown prince of the Congress party has hit hard at the central government for not doing enough to control the prices of onion. This is second time in last few days that Sh. Rahul G has taken the government head on, in spite of the fact that the government is lead by his own party. In his first ever vocal opposition of the government, he had last month rubbished an ordinance moved by the union cabinet to overrule a recent Supreme Court order which disqualified convicted MPs and MLAs. Bhaiyaa yeh sab nahi chalega, warned Rahul his party members. “Bhaiyaa yeh sab nahi chalega,” warned Rahul his party members. A senior party spokesperson on the condition of anonymity has said that Rahul G was doing this because he believes it is necessary for internal party democracy. When further probed by this reporter on how these acts signify growing internal party democracy, he was told that ‘internal party democracy’ was a state of mind. While reacting to Rahul G’s statement, Mr. Digvijay Singh also pointed that congress alone is a power to reckon with. In fact he said that with Rahul G being there in the party, they also do not feel any need for the opposition party. Digvijay Singh also said that onions at Rs. 100/kg is an act of discrimination displayed by fascist BJP against other vegetables and insisted that all other vegetables should also be supported by the central government to attain an equal status. On being pointed out by this reporter that his statement seems to be contradiction to Rahul G’s statement, Digvijay Singh retracted his statement and pointed out this was happening to general disharmony being spread by BJP, RSS, VHP et. al. We are still tracking the story and will get reactions from others in the government.
