Rain/Sleet/Snow + Strong winds Good afternoon, hope youre all having a wonderful Christmas. The weather is set to change as from tomorrow as we see a developing area of low pressure move across the southern half of the UK in particular. There is an increased risk of rain turning to sleet and snow on the northern flank of the low pressure system. At the moment elevated areas of Wales are likely to see a spell of wintry weather and many central parts of England which includes the Pennies/West Midlands/East Midlands & parts of Lincolnshire, even down to lower levels for a time. Accumulations are expected to be restricted to higher ground, however temporary accumulations to lower levels for a time cannot be ruled out. There is even a risk of rain turning wintry across southern parts as the colder air undercuts the warmer air, turning rain to sleet/snow. There is still a little uncertainty with regards to the exact areas although the video attached will give you a good idea. We are keeping an eye on developments; such as slight changes with the track of the low which would put the snow risk further north and east (North Yorkshire/East Yorkshire as an example). Based on the current model output there would be a mixture of rain/sleet/snow across East Yorkshire. On the southern flank of the low pressure system winds will strengthening to gale force for a time, particularly across SW England and Southern coastal counties of England, with gusts of 50mph. For areas in the South that have an all rain event, some heavy rain is expected with the risk of some localised flooding. As the system clears to the SE heavy wintry showers will follow across Scotland and west/nw coasts with accumulations likely in Scotland, the showers will even be wintry to lower levels of Scotland and parts of England. Please see the video for guidance, Ill get an update posted tonight and Ill provide regular updates throughout tomorrow. Merry Christmas, Lewis
