Rally for Marriage Equality in Mobile Posted: Oct 11, 2014 7:32 PM CDT Updated: Oct 11, 2014 7:33 PM CDT By WKRG Staff MOBILE, Ala. - A rally for marriage equality was held in Mobile Saturday morning. People gathered at the Cornerstone Metropolitan Community Church on Government Street. John and Jim Humphrey coordinated the event. News 5 brought you their story in August. They have filed a federal lawsuit against the state of Alabama to legalize marriage for gay couples. Saturday, church leaders and people spoke about how and why they want to make sure the issue stays in the forefront. We will eventually have it done, because there will be enough lawsuits, there will be enough criticism, there will be enough love to make them change their hearts, says John Humphrey. Im as straight as a line, but I believe gay people have the right to be gay, and if they want to marry, the state of Alabama has no right to say that they cannot, says Dr. David Carnrike with the United Gospel Churches of America. There are over two dozen lawsuits filed against the state of Alabama for gay marriage equality. John Humphrey says they plan on holding a rally on gay rights the second Saturday of each month.
