"Ramadan-Only" Muslims I used to scoff at “Ramadan-only" Muslims, and crack jokes about how I’d only see these people during this one month, and never again until next year. I’d even take it a step further and roll my eyes at “Ramadan-Friday-only" Muslims, and worse yet “Eid-only" Muslims.And then I realized how incredibly arrogant I was for that. As if I could somehow assert that I was “better" than my own brothers and sisters because of these arbitrary attendance points that I would assign to myself and to them, and looking back now it’s embarrassing to see just how shallow, trivial, and self-righteous that kind of attitude was.Every single one of us is a “Ramadan-only Muslim" because we all use this month to self-reflect, self-improve, and at least attempt to polish off the dirt that’s been accumulating on our souls. And who amongst us can say with pure honesty that we carry that same drive, undiminished, into Shawwal or even until the end of the year?A reminder to myself that I should respect, honor, and always welcome brothers and sisters during this month, because it may very well be that I might be the weakest of them all and the most in need of mercy and forgiveness.
