Ramadan is nearly here. While most Muslims in the West will eat lavishly during iftaar time, many Muslims in the poorest regions in the world will not have any food waiting for them. Most of us know of a story where a sister called into a TV show hosted by a Sheikh and she asked, if we do not have food to open our fast, will it be accepted? This is the reality that is awaiting many Muslims around the world. One sister has decided to combat this problem for a number of families. The initial target was to raise money to feed 30 families (widows and children) throughout Ramadan. But the donations have far exceeded that total Alhumdulillah. So now the final target is to raise as much money as possible, so a lot more families can be fed throughout Ramadan. A £30 donation pays for a family of 5 to be fed for a whole month. The parcels contain: rice, flour, oil, lentils/pulses, spices, tea, sugar, vegetables and soap and sanitation products. They are distributed to poor families living in Palestine, India, Kashmir, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Somalia, Afghanistan, Gambia and Malawi. £2,256 has been raised so far. So that is 75 families.
