Ramblings from the End of the Road: I have been doing some - TopicsExpress

Ramblings from the End of the Road: I have been doing some research on Waterfalls in Washington State and Oregon State. Moving and Falling Water are my favorite things to photograph and this year my goal is to spend way more time doing just that. Fortunately, the web is full of sites that describe not only where the waterfall is, but the intensity in winter vs. summer, the best time of day to photograph a specific waterfall, and much more. During my research this morning I found a waterfall that was located about 2.5 miles from Yacolt. The name of this waterfall is Big Tree Creek Falls and it drops about 60 in a sort of amphitheater type setting. I decided i would pay this place a visit and see what kind of photos i could get on a sunny and cold morning. I wasnt disappointed. While this waterfall isnt the highest you will ever see, it was plenty impressive. There was a view from above the falls which I took advantage of and then bushwhacked my way down to the base of the falls. Due to the freezing conditions there was plenty of ice surrounding the falls as well as along the creek. Icicles hung from limbs and fallen trees that were over the water as well as were formed from the basalt walls that surrounded the water. I am happy with the results but I can visualize better images in the future as I will be sure to pay this place a visit again soon.
