Ran across this poem while searching the church office. Sometime during the ‘80’s each class had to present a skit, poem, anything, as part of the Christmas Party program. Ron Langford wrote this little diddy for the Men’s class. Twas six days till Christmas and all through His house, The Methodist people were hustling about The Ol’uns and young’ums and all uns between, Were singing and praying like you’ve never seen. The reason for all of this joyous, good cheer; The reason was Christmas, that great time of year. With greens in the sanctuary and a tree all lit up, We’re praising our Savior with all this neat stuff. This poem must be paused, for announcements by Kitty, If we miss her news, it’d sure be a pity She works with our children and keeps us informed, Her leadership qualities keep our hearts warm. Melvin, our preacher, teachers the word, He might miss the offering, but sure knows the Lord. With most people waiting for Santa, and wishing Clyde’s a smart fella, he’s gone a fining. He is a smart fella, cause he’s got Ms. Pat When church chime rings we know where she’s at. Our choir is here sometimes, they’re quite good in fact They sing like the movies, “The Sister Act.” Mary teaches the children the young and the small She sends them a message that reaches us all. Pam plays the piano and plays it quite we… If she did it lousy, I sure wouldn’t tell. I’d never say anything about Pan that’s bad You’ve never seen scary til you’ve seen Pam mad. Mike, he could tell ya, yeah, he could---but Mike is a smart guy. He keeps his mouth shut. Mary Frances’ a lady; we all need to cheer She keeps us all going….yea, Mrs. LeVrier! Crystal’s so pretty as she walks down the aisles, To light the church candles, but she seldom smiles. Our church may be small, with numbers too few, But our Lord is with us whatever we do So let us be thankful for the good times we’ve had, A church with two Quintins can never be bad. We pray for all sick ones, and people not here, We know God is with them this great time of year. All things are so precious that fall in His sight Merry Christmas to all and to all a good night!
