Rancho Cicada, with the truly amazing efforts of family, friends - TopicsExpress

Rancho Cicada, with the truly amazing efforts of family, friends and loved ones and the amazing response from Amador county health and building inspectors, (we even had a visit from Brian Oneto today!) has had a quick turn around! We wish to thank our wonderful neighbors for their kind and support after this horrific event. Story Winery! Who else would offer to take and baby sit a very strong, 200 tortoise! They even went so far as to offer housing, phone and internet to David and I when we were locked out (for our own safety) These are truly wonderful neighbors :) Rob Conley and Dewey Allen, fought (along with Cal Fire) and successfully saved their beautiful home, cant say enough about them, they took us in, survived our intrusion into their beautiful home graciously. We would stomp in every night full of soot and ashes and they would welcome us with open hearts and open arms. We are blessed to know them :) Thank you! Matt, our neighbor on Quail Road, who walked a mile down our road to offer the use of his back hoe and any other equipment he had,,Thank you and your wonderful fiancé! Thank you to the staff at Colina De Oro restaurant, in Plymouth Ca. for treating us with such extreme kindness during our first night. We staggered in that night, late, not knowing if we would find a place to sleep, reeking of fire and smoke, covered with dirt and ashes and starving after such a horrendous day. The wonderful staff and bartender (she survived the Oakland fire) and cashier took us in, and not only covered our tab, plus two (very welcome and delicious) margaritas gave us, forty dollars ! These are hard working, caring, wonderful people, THANK YOU!!!!!! We now have water and power to the entire retreat! Both cabins, the main bathroom, the kitchen/dining deck, the hot tub and the covered patio all have water and power. We have replaced the lost cabins with some tents, with mattresses in them and will continue to do so as needed for this year. The lawn, river and retreat area were, due to the heroic efforts of Cal-fire, the proximity of the river and the whims of nature, unaffected. We cant thank all the emergency response and county official enough for their kindness and support! We will have a group of hardy, souls here this weekend to celebrate their joint 60th birthdays and we cant thank them enough! We wish thank those that have grown to love Rancho Cicada as much as we do for their thoughts and prayers :) God Bless all of you :)
