Randall - Today our nation joins together to honor and remember the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Dr. King spent his life striving to help America more fully fulfill the noble ambition laid out in our Declaration of Independence that all people are created equal. In one of his most poignant calls for actions, Why We Can’t Wait, Dr. King reminded our country of that goal and that the time for action was past due. We must heed Dr. King’s call today in our South Carolina. We cannot wait to fund all our schools equitably so that every child, no matter where they are born, has a chance to succeed. We cannot wait to provide every child access to four-year-old kindergarten for the educational opportunities it provides. And we cannot wait to make our tax system fairer for small businesses and working families. We have made tremendous strides since Dr. King’s time, but our work is not yet complete. I hope you’ll join me in a moment of reflection on how we can continue to build on Dr. King’s legacy in our own lives and in our state. Please share them on my Facebook page – I’d love to keep the conversation going.
