Randall, Republicans finally have a chance to do the right - TopicsExpress

Randall, Republicans finally have a chance to do the right thing when it comes to protecting voting rights. Across the country, Republicans have passed voter ID laws that disenfranchise voters and give the GOP an unfair electoral advantage. But a new bipartisan bill in Congress would restore protections of the Voting Rights Act that were gutted by the conservative Supreme Court last year. This means that states such as Texas, Georgia, Mississippi and Louisiana would no longer be free to pass discriminatory laws that limit voting rights for minorities and the elderly. Tell Republicans to support the bipartisan Sensenbrenner-Conyers-Leahy bill to restore the Voting Rights Act. Click Add Your Name below to automatically take action. First Name: Randall Last Name: Redmon Email: redm5954@rocketmail Zip: 40383 Strengthening the Voting Rights Act makes a lot of sense. After all, every citizen in our democracy should be able to vote. The only problem for Republicans is that more people voting usually means fewer people voting for them. Republicans know this, so hardcore elements of the right-wing base will go to great lengths to make sure this bill never sees the light of day. Don’t let the radical right prevent this important voting rights measure from becoming the law of the land. Tell congressional Republicans to strengthen the Voting Rights Act.
