Random musings on my first triathlon: 1 - Im supposed to keep the yellow buoy on my right while swimming. So without my glasses all the guys sitting on surfboards in yellow shirts look a lot like buoys. They were marking the outside of the course. So I swam farther than I had to since I swam past the surfboards thinking they were buoys. Hey, I least I didnt head out into the bay! 2 - I was proud that I refrained from slapping the rump of the lady who bent down to tie her shoe directly in front of me during the run, causing many excited gyrations on my part to avoid a rear-end crash. Afterwards I really wished I hadnt refrained! 3 -The guy I nearly knocked out when waving at a friend while running probably wanted to slap me, and maybe not on the rump! 4 - Coaches were right about being so excited you do silly things. Lost my goggles somewhere in transition. Ran past my bike and had to turn around and try again. 5 - I am glad David Kovisto made me practicing changing a flat, even if I thought Ill never have a flat. I saw a woman carrying her bike back, and three others trying to figure out how to change a flat. There was glass on the road. 6 - I have been binging on sugar since I finished. Mainlining chocolate right now! 7 - It sure was fun being part of a team, and exceedingly satisfying to be a part of something bigger than myself. 8- I loved having my family cheer me on! Fun hearing the yelling and seeing the waving!
