Random notes for week of August 25th through 31st. SOOOOOO much happening that Im posting like a note-to-self or things to do list so hopefully, I wont forget something. Thats GOOD news if you like dirt track racing because you have plenty to choose from in the next 2...even 3 months. -- Can you believe its Labor Day Weekend already? -- How bout the LIMITED Modified turnouts the last 3 weeks! 60 cars at Boothill was awesome. Thats like 120 cars for a one-night show as far as pit gate goes plus entry fee. Very healthy class right now. The no entry fee, one night way at the TSM was pretty awesome too with 80 cars turning out for it. I havent done the math work yet, but I believe there may have been close to 100 different Limiteds between the 2 shows with plenty more out there where they came from. Lets see who and what TMS gets in 2 weeks on Sep 13th. Since no Mods are at TMS for the first time in forever, (ASCS headlines) I bet a purse increase for the Limiteds who brought 140 cars there last September would have been well received. -- Congrats to Steve Whiteaker, Jr. on the big $5000 win at Boothill. JJ Jennings finished 8th and made the second Corpus Christi racer in the top ten. Shane Hebert was 2nd and Mr. Joe had his PTS motor tore down for the 2nd time in 3 weeks. Passed again. After a successful night as a promoter on August 16th (111 Fact Stocks, 170 total cars and a packed house at Timberlines Factory Stock 50), Justin Whitehead topped 56 other Limited Modifieds for a 3rd place finish. When only Whiteaker and Hebert beat you its a good night! Billy Marvin had a great night in a new IRP car for 4th and The Dominator Josh Baucom got his 2nd top 5 in 3 weeks at big Limited Mod/SSM shows. -- After two straight 8th place finishes at high banked FAST tracks -- Salina & Outlaw in Oklahoma -- Cade Dillard heads for north country USMTS Hunt races next. Last night, #97 was at least a top 3 car but faded with a broken A-arm. Five of the last 6 Hunt races are this week. Wed - Marshalltown, Iowa Thur - Webster City, Iowa Fri - Lansing, Minnesota Sat - Spring Valley, Minnesota (Deer Creek!!!) Sun - Cresco, Iowa -- 3rd annual Dorris Dowden Memorial starts THIS Friday at Leesville 171 Speedway LLC. Nice Modified paydown of $2500, 2000, 1500, 1000, 700 .... 200 to 10th on back with NO entry fee and a 2-day combo pit pass at just $45!!! Then on Saturday, ASCS Winged, Outlaw Style 360 Fuel-Injected Sprint Cars make their only Louisiana appearance of 2014. -- THIS Saturday at Lonestar Speedway, Ronny Adams, Shane Hebert, Tyler Erb, Rob Litton, Kevin Sitton and more will see if they can once again stop the 2014 juggernaut that is Jon Mitchell as the SUPR Late Models get back in action. On his off weekend, Jon Mitchell picked up a $900 Modified win at Boothill. I think he has 7 SUPR/Super Late Model wins so far this year! -- On Sunday (SUNDAY SUNDAY SUNDAY... lol! Anyone know where I get that from? Its off a comedy bit that takes a shot at us race fans but it is funny.) THE Land of THREE-wide returns to action with the Labor Day Nationals! All 5 classes in action at Ark-La-Tex Speedway! -- This Sunday August 31st is also the deadline to save $50 on your Lonestar 600 entry. Thats the $50,000 purse, possible $25,000 to win for one guy, not-your-daddys-enduro dirt track race at Royal Purple Raceway in Baytown, Texas on October 3rd and 4th. Just getting started!!! SOOOO much more to talk about but its break time!
