Rant of the Day! I have been trying to wrap my head around certain things and attempting to apply logic and common sense (I know big mistake) to the recent explosion of resellers and artificial price hiking but alas I cannot. Why do people pay way over retail just to have something? Take Amiibo for instance. My buddies that are GameStop store managers told me they get atleast 30 calls a day for people looking for the lower production figures. Why? To own them and play with them? Of course not. To resell them! Why are they selling for so much? Thats what I dont get. Amiibos are not the only ones. There are exclusive Skylanders also. If buyers refused to pay these inflated costs the hype would die and prices would come down. Its simple economics yet people are willing to shell out hard earned money to feed the frenzy. It boggles my mind. There is nothing RARE about any of them. Take Marth for instance. I wanted him because I enjoy the games he is in. I wanted to use him in Smash. I will not pay these inflated prices. Its insane. One day I will possibly get the figures I want at retail prices but until then all I can hope for are fellow gamers willing to hook each other up. People that see beyond dollar signs and care more about their fellow gamer, fellow American! Its amazing how these things can bring out the worst in people.
