Re: Ahead of NANS Senate meeting: A rejoinder. My attention has been drawn to a rejoinder on the above subject matter as written by one Chika Chinonso of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka. In as much as I am not questioning the writers fundamental right of freedom of speech, I am still stunned at why some individuals project the false above the truth, I received a call from Chika though, but i still wonder why he have to resort to politics of blackmail, propaganda, and deceit in order to malign my personality, integrity as well as ideological leanings. The said claims are malicious in all intent hence the need for a rebuttal so that unsuspecting members of the public will not fall for their political gimmicks. An anonymous quote in the piece was: ...because he had NANS Presidency as part of his plans, thats why he (Eniola Opeyemi) is vying for NANS National PRO. Haba, how long can one go in creating confusion in the NANS constituency. For the records, after the recently held NANS Convention at Asaba, Delta State which produced Tijani Usman and Royce Ochai as the NANS President and Senate President respectively, another major focus is the post of the NANS National PRO. Allegations are rife from some quarters that my humble self being a Lagos based might fall a victim whilst some are of the opinion that I might eye the NANS Presidency. Reacting to the allegations, Eniola Opeyemi aka Daddie insists I see no reason why I would be tagged with a political party because I schooled in the state (Lagos). It is puerile thinking to allege such as I am not a card carrying member of any political party as I write. As one of the student pioneer member of Save Nigeria Group(SNG), I was opportune to meet various people from all walks of life, Tunde Bakare, Yinka Odumakin, Femi Falana, to mention but a few, they all boosted my belief about Nigeria. The critics can check my records and antecedents in students unionism in Nigeria. I wonder why critics are not constructive in manners. Speaking at Agbara, Ogun State over the weekend, Eniola Opeyemi added, I had best chances to contest as NANS President after serving as NANS Cordinator, I didnlt because I have many before me and I shouldnt wrestle power...I consider such allegations baseless as I have no eye in the NANS Presidency. Finally, let me add at this juncture that individuals diatribes against my person can never stand the test of time and can only succeed in lionising me as they will end up in the refuse heap of forgotten history. Please note that the Senate meeting of NANS is schedule to hold 30th October,2014. Which way forward Nigerian Students? Eniola Opeyemi writes from the centre of excellence
