But, of course, any video where, even for a single scene, a white artist is backed entirely by black dancers cant get away with that. The twist is that its not that shes falling into the same pratfall that Lily Allen did last year, but that shes making fun of Lily. Taylor Swift has jumped into the business of satire, I guess. But the problem persists. Yes, black bodies are not props. But theyre also not jokes. The word satire doesnt provide you absolution. So I put my hand on my face and think of /course/ Taylor Swift kind of innocently wandered into doing something dumb. Ugh. God damn it. But I like the song. Yeah. I liked Hard Out Here, too.
