Re The Pub: Sure happy to see this from The Tifton Gazette !!! History of the Lamplighter Motel & Kent Tourist Home - Proudly Serving You Since 1975 1801 US Hwy. 41 North, Tifton, GA 382-6565 This property has survived through years of history and experienced continous commercial progression. Built in the 1920s by Joseph Kent as the Kent Tourist Home, it has been operated by Milton U. Kent, H.L. Sewell, and Marvin Shuman. This property was sold to R.B. Wrinkler who renamed it the Lamplighter Motel. Owners have been Clyde Meadows, R.I. Ulmer, A.C. Highers, Donald Portlock, and then finally William Bill Binner, who developed the motel restaurant into The Lamplighter Pub. Since 1975, the Pub has been a public gathering place of music, conversation, and excellent food. In 2014, the Lamplighter Motel property was sold to Dollar General Market, but The Lamplighter Pub and Kent Tourist Home will remain intact. So come by and be a part of Tiftons history and delight in Famous Pizza & Oven Baked Subs that have been enjoyed by generations. Motel closing, but Pub remaining open.
